Jim Sinclair became interested in commercial
archaeology while still a college student. His
first meeting with Mel Fisher was as a member of a
group Mel was lecturing. Mel advised the
group," I found my treasure in Florida, come
on down and find yours." Jim did just that
and moved to Key West where he worked as one of
the conservationists when Mel hit the main pile of
the Atocha. Through self-learning and
rigorous academic studies Jim has become one of
the sought after consultants in our field. He
lives in St. Augustine with his wife Vanessa and
son Ian. |

Dr. Lyon is most likely THE recognized authority on the 16th century
Spanish presence in North America. Professor Lyon has authored
numerous books, monographs and five Nation Geographic articles,
including works on the Atocha and the Spanish Manila Galleons. He
has been an very good friend and consultant to
Amelia for many years. During a visit to the Polly-L
in Summer 2004, he reiterated his belief that
there is substantial treasure to be found off Amelia
Island.
